Canada’s Super Visa allows eligible parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens, permanent residents and persons registered under the Indian Act to visit family in Canada for extended periods. It is a multiple-entry visa that may be valid for up to 10 years.

Eligible Super Visa holders can generally stay in Canada for up to five years at a time. The period authorized may depend on when the person applied or entered Canada and on the decision made at the border.

WHO MAY QUALIFY?

To apply, you must be the parent or grandparent of an eligible host in Canada and apply from outside Canada. Your host must be at least 18 years old, live in Canada, have qualifying Canadian status, meet the applicable income requirement and provide a signed letter of invitation promising financial support.

Applicants must complete an immigration medical exam, obtain qualifying private health insurance valid for at least one year from the date of entry with at least $100,000 in emergency coverage, and satisfy Canada’s general visitor and admissibility requirements.
